Hello this is Dave with Kess Audio.

I got back into music in 2007, being single created great opportunity for this. At church I was asked to run the sound board and I said sure.

My admiration, love and desire for working behind the sound board grew out of that day. I still work every Sunday at a local Church as the lead sound engineer and  have not missed a Sunday yet for over 18 months now.

Sometimes that is hard on me for I am usually working Saturday nights running sound or the stage.

I love live sound audio engineering, its never the same and I always get to meet some great and awesome people. My first sound board I got behind was at the church and that was the Behringer Eurodesk MS3282A back in 2007 and I have not looked back since.

Today I enjoy the digital boards very much for they have everything inside of them needed for the artist and that makes load in and load out much less laborious. Plus it is just really very cool to play with new gadgets.

Last summer I mixed for over 100  bands and most of the time there was no stage plot and it was the first time I and the artist have worked together. I have always shrived to provide the artist on the stage with the best possible sound for their mix.

I believe that the more in the zone the artist is the better show that group can give their audience. So I give my best to help them create the best sound for their fans and audience.

And Kess Audio will always be about giving the best of the talents we love so the audience can enjoy the best of the talent on the stage.

Everyone at Kess Audio takes this attitude with them on every show no matter what part  they are responsible for.

From the stage hand, light tech or Lighting director, audio tech or engineer we all strive as a team to make the others the best even when we work with a different crew.

  1. Wow, this is definetly a skill I’d love to learn. You seem very passionate about what you do. You’re obviously dedicated, after a night shift I barely have energy to take a shower let alone put on show. Great site.

  2. Hey, Dave

I bet it must be an awesome job being a sound audio engineer. I have always wondered at gigs, what the guys do who are sat behind those electronic boards, and now I know a little more about it after reading your story. WOW! 100 bands!? That must be so much fun to do 🙂

    Thanks for sharing this. Neil

    1. To be able to play with a very awesome amounts of audio power and make it sound clean is just a great gift to be given. In no way did I ever think this was something someone would let me do yet alone have fun doing it. Now my gift is for everyone else, not for me. I get to do what I love and I get blessed by being able to do that.

Thank you for posting here Neil, I hope I can help you sometime to achieve your dreams, goals or wants in life.

      1. I bet it takes a good ear to go in cold with an unfamiliar band. Sounds like you do. And you sure sound like you are having fun doing this. That’s the best way to do things.

        1. It is something that I am crazy about or have a passion for. Had to sneak out as a youngster just to jam on the guitar with the fellows. Ended up ont the streets and had to hustle for cash and have been my own person for many years. Just got back into music and now there is joy in my life again. Thanks for the comment Helen.
